Got milk?

ELLIE DOES!!

Today was Ellie's dairy challenge and she passed with flying colors! After increasing amounts of milk every 15 minutes in her allergist's office, she didn't have any hives, rashes, or other problems. Yay! Starting tomorrow we can give her gradually increasing amounts of milk and other dairy products. We've decided that tomorrow will be cheese! Maybe next weekend she can pizza!

Mama explaining today's process

The first taste was just a few drops on her tongue and lips from a tongue depressor

The second taste was only 1/2 teaspoon

Hey, have you heard that it doesn't look like I'm allergic to milk?!?!

A little bit more....

and more...

...and the laste taste was 20 ml. Then we were sent to the waiting room for an hour, where Ellie ran around and we hoped for the best!

It was a very long hour.

We go back to the allergist in November for another blood test to check her egg allergy. We'll continue to do that until her allergy decreases. The allergist doesn't think that's going to be anytime soon.

But for today, we're rejoicing in this very good news and looking forward to sharing Ellie's first slice of pizza!

Yippee!! Every child should be able to drink milk!

Did you ever hear why Elizabeth quit drinking milk at age 18 months? A very sad, but true, story.

We were on vacation and stopped to eat at a Taco Bell. We ordered a carton of milk for Elizabeth; she wasn't real fond of milk, but would drink it.

She took her first sip, and whined.

We coaxed; she took another sip, then shook her head.

We directed her to take another drink. She refused.

We held it to her mouth, and again told her to take a drink. She reluctantly did, but spit it out and cried.

I took the carton, and said, "Look...milk's good! Mommy loves milk!"

As I started to drink it, I recoiled.

It was spoiled and in curdles!

Poor kid. We got our 89 cents back from Taco Bell, but she's never had another sip of milk, as far as I know!

Poor Elizebeth!!!! Mostly cause you made her drink spoiled milk! I have always said if I had to choose between no more "booze" or no more milk, I would, hands down, choose to keep the milk! :-)

I LOVE milk!

I think Ellie has the "love of the cow" now. When we came home she was upset when Jana offered her more soy milk. She had to have cow milk!

I think you should mark the occasion with a trip to San Diego and treat her (and you) to a Fillipi's pizza? She should have the best, then try the rest. IINTY should go with you!

That is great news for her to be able to enjoy real milk now.
